Learning Democracy in Schools: Tools in international school contexts
Duration: 1 September 2015 – March 2019
Mentor: Prof. Dr. Angela Ittel, Faculty I, Institute of Education, Department of Educational Psychology
Abstract: The general aim of the project „Learning democracy in schools: Tools in international school contexts“ is to support the proper selection and use of methods for civic education in schools and to promote civic education among teachers in international context. Civic education implies a broad set of contents (school curricula), teaching methods, processes of student learning and procedures organizing the school life of all members of the learning community. A mix of these tools helps to prepare students to be active members of democratic societies. Achieving this goal depends on national, regional and local contexts. The project as a whole aims at producing theoretical and practical outcomes which will support the German and Polish educational systems to achieve goals of civic education.
