On this page you will find answers to questions concerning the IPODI fellowship program. The list will grow successively. If your questions are not answered here the IPODI office will be happy to help.

Application and Submission:

Who can apply?
IPODI is open to all researchers holding a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) with no more than ten years (in exceptional cases up to 13 years) of postdoctoral research experience. You may not have resided or carried out your main activity in Germany for more than twelve months in the three years immediately prior to the application deadline. Furthermore your project proposal has to be supported by a cooperating professor of TU Berlin.

Do I really need a letter of support by a TU Professor?
Yes, applications without the required letter of support will not be considered.

Can I apply if I am an Assistant or Associate Professor?
Yes, IPODI is open to all female researches fulfilling the eligibility criteria.

How many IPODI fellowships are available?
The sixth call for applications offers four fellowships.

In case my proposal is rejected, can I apply again?
Yes, it is possible to submit a revised proposal in the next selection round.

How many proposals can I submit?
Only one application can be submitted per call per person.

How are the chances to be accepted?

The Fellowships:

How much will I earn?
The exact amount of your salary depends on your previous work experience and will be calculated according the collective labor agreement TVL by TU Berlin's HR department. For detailed information on the salary range visit TVL.

How much is the research cost contribution?
IPODI fellows receive a contribution to research costs of €10,000.

Living and Working in Berlin:

Do I have to know/learn German?
German skills are not obligatory unless they are required for conducting your research project. However, it is recommendable to acquire a basic knowledge of German for everyday life. IPODI fellows have the opportunity to take part in 'German as a foreign language' courses at TU Berlin.
